As we embrace the beginning of another promising year in the electronic music realm, an imminent return to our beloved Distant Arrays series felt necessary. This edition focuses on the true diversity of our sound and those who create them, featuring four artists from four different countries. Expect familiar subgenres revisited by newcomers to our label, along with the expansion of said sounds from those who have helped lay the foundation of our collective's culture.

We begin our recollection of the series with a new and compelling artist on our roster: German producer Abstractum. Their early experimentation with drum 'n' bass production quickly became influenced by formative garage artists such as Burial and Vacant. "Lost" is a perfect representation of this paradigm shift, drawing inspiration from multiple subgenres: the ethereal pads from future garage, raunchy drums from 2-step, and reverberating vocals from downtempo. The result is a mesmerizing track and a perfect introduction to Abstractum's story that will continue to grow on our label over time.

We are eager to welcome back one of the core members of our team: Chicago-based beatmaker Agent O. Winding down from a busy past year full of DJ sets around the city and our release of his highly regarded EP, the resident bass wielder returns with his latest track "Crush." Continuing to build on his established style of blending UK garage and modern bass music, the track's low-end feels rough around the edges, while the track's flow easily makes it danceable. Agent O will surely stay active this year as he not only grows his main alias, but also works on developing a new project that is set to premiere later this year.

No one under our radar has had more of a thrilling past year than Kelbin. The Venetian producer has been making waves recently as they were deemed one of 2023's most exciting up-and-comers by the legendary Nikki Nair. Also being affiliated with our friends at Tabula Rasa, Kelbin does not confine to one genre or style. This is even more noticeable in "Lovely Keys," an ode to experimental electronic music with sharp synths and punchy drums. After a recent well-received remix for Caribou, along with their loads of unreleased material (including a heavyweight collaboration with Thys) - Kelbin is set to have a breakthrough year and become a household name in our music ecosystem.

The final track of the compilation comes from over 10,000 kilometers away, courtesy of Tokyo-based producer Ton Mise. Being intrigued by timeless music from monumental labels such as Merck and Neo Ouija, his style was directly impacted by early renditions of trip-hop and golden-age electronica. This landed his work on underground imprints such as Eerik Inpuj Sound stateside and NoDiscoRecords in Japan. Blending his favorite styles with a unique approach to drum 'n' bass, "Kan 8" takes a lush atmosphere and paints it over clever percussive work that progresses into a glitchy outcome. We have been beyond excited to work with Ton Mise for a while now; expect his full-length debut on our label in the coming months.

Distant Arrays is an immersive showcase of our audio/visual capabilities as a collective. We are honored to introduce you to our growing team, continuously expanding our newfound interpretation of sound.

"Stationed beyond the horizon lies a cluster of autonomous satellite arrays - each serving as capsules of detained time, points of transit between diverse concepts, and the sensorial relation between tangible audio and visual worlds. They fill the thin air with varied frequencies and beam optic elements into the minds of drawn newcomers and devoted adherents alike. Though each array hosts different creators from every remote edge of this decaying planet, they communicate with us through the vigorous potential of art. They link together to create a limitless field without borders – only human connection. These are the Distant Arrays..."
